Quest for Faith is a self-funded ministry led by Brian Walker. Brian simply wants to help you on your personal quest for faith. Whether you are an atheist, agnostic, unbeliever, cynic, backslidden Christian, or sold-out believer in Jesus Christ, you are on a quest for faith in some form or fashion. Brian hopes that this website will inspire you, regardless of where you are in your path to finding truth, and he hopes to help answer questions that you may have in the process.
Brian Walker accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was only eight years old. However, Brian didn’t really appreciate the fullness of that until several years later while he was in college. In fact, Brian was very cynical at times during the first 21 years of his life. In his own personal quest for faith, Brian read parts of the Quran and other religious texts because he “didn’t want to be a Christian just because” he “was born in the Bible belt.” Little did Brian know that the Bible itself says in Philippians 2:12 to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” In some ways, Brian did just that in his cynical approach to finding God. However, the Lord got ahold of Brian in a pretty powerful way while attending Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Within a few months, Brian was serving at a small church as a Youth Pastor.
Before Brian ultimately graduated from Texas State in 2000, Brian spent around two years serving in the youth ministry at two different Central Texas churches. While in college, Brian also worked at the Texas Capitol and he served as an intern on a successful presidential campaign.
Despite the opportunity to receive a full scholarship to attend a seminary right after college, Brian felt God’s calling to begin law school in 2001 at the University of Houston (UH). While in law school, Brian served as the President of the UH chapter of the Christian Legal Society and he ultimately received his law degree in December of 2003. Brian was licensed to practice law a few months later. Brian later received a Master’s in International Relations from the University of Oklahoma and a Master in Biblical and Theological Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary.
After becoming an attorney in 2004, Brian served as an Assistant District Attorney, an adjunct college professor, a frequent lecturer and author on various legal topics, his party’s nominee for a seat on the Texas House of Representatives, his father’s campaign manager in his father's successful bid for the supreme criminal court in Texas, a Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force Reserves, and the first JAG in the history of the U.S. Air Force to serve as a Flight Commander/Instructor (officer equivalent of a drill sergeant) at the U.S. Air Force Officer Training School.
More recently, Brian was the founding Pastor and Church Planter of Merge Point Church in Hillsboro, Texas. Brian served in that volunteer capacity for almost two years before becoming a State Court of Appeals Judge. Brian is currently one of the 80 intermediate appellate judges in Texas and, despite the many hats that Brian has worn in his life, his most cherished is being a “child of God” and a “born-again believer in Jesus Christ.” Brian hopes that you can say the same at some point in your own personal quest for faith.
